Raising a glass of Prosecco DOC has become a common gesture to celebrate the success of a team or an athlete, expressing joy and recognition for the skill and talent of a winner.
Whether it’s a volleyball match, a regatta, a motorcycle race, or a marathon, Prosecco DOC is the perfect sparkling choice to celebrate the results of hard work, determination and commitment that every athlete puts into their discipline.
When we think of celebrations, we immediately picture a bottle, perhaps a magnum, opened with flair and lightheartedness on the MotoGP™ podium, where the Prosecco DOC Consortium has been the Official Supplier since 2019. This exciting and adrenaline-filled competition pairs perfectly with the lively bubbles of carbon dioxide that cheerfully escape from a bottle of Prosecco DOC. This two-wheeled journey doesn’t end here but has continued for twelve years also as the Official Sparkling Wine of Superbike, a championship that takes speed around the world.
A journey through sport and tourism
This journey with Prosecco DOC begins right from its place of origin. Two regions, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, rich in historical and artistic beauties and framed by breathtaking landscapes. You can explore them through sports tourism, that matches sports to leisure activities. A great alternative to the traditional “beach, sun and sea” vacation that allows enthusiasts to travel while engaging in physical activity and discovering the many competitive initiatives held here.
The Prosecco DOC Consortium has been supporting sporting events and teams for years, which are now part of the culture of its homeland, encompassing the sea, hills, green plains, and some of the most spectacular peaks in the world. It is from here that we want to start our journey, particularly from the “Pearl of the Dolomites”, the “Queen of the Snow”, or simply Cortina d’Ampezzo, a paradise for winter sports lovers. For over a century it has hosted some of the most important and internationally recognized ski competitions and events. Here, the Prosecco DOC Consortium has partnered with Fondazione Cortina, particularly for the Ski World Cup, for four editions and counting. Here, in 2026, the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics will take place, and we will see many celebrations and toasts with Prosecco DOC, of course, the Official Sparkling Wine of this highly anticipated event.
Descending from the Belluno mountains and heading towards Treviso on our journey, we encounter Conegliano, a town in the heart of the Veneto-Friuli plain and a symbolic place for Prosecco. Here was born the “Prosecco DOC Imoco Volley”, a women’s volleyball team achieving numerous victories and garnering an ever-growing number of fans. Today, the “panthers” are World Champions, European Champions, and Italian Champions for Clubs. Continuing on our path, it is time to visit Treviso, a city rich in history, with Venetian-style canals and squares, including Piazza dei Signori. It is home to the Prosecco DOC Consortium and Benetton Rugby, a team that is a source of pride for the region due to its many athletic successes over the years. Hence, more occasions to celebrate and honor the genius of young athletes who make us proud to be Italian.
From the mountains to the sea, we are ready to set sail with Prosecco DOC on Prosecco DOC Shockwave 3, an elegant carbon boat with a 38-meter high mast. For sailing enthusiasts and those who don’t want to miss a unique spectacle in the world, the appointment is in Trieste, a city of magical sunsets over Piazza Unità d’Italia and literary cafes, where every year, on the second Sunday of October, the Barcolana takes place: an international sailing regatta, a perfect mix of competition and popular festival that transforms the Friulian capital into the European capital of sailing.
Chasing Genius
It is time to move and become protagonists of sporting events. The goal is always to discover and promote the Prosecco DOC territory. Comfortable shoes, a bit of training, and here we are ready to face a marathon if we are athletes or to simply follow these unique paths: as we prefer, according to our abilities, to bring out our genius.
For the first marathon, we stay in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It’s called MYTHO Marathon, a road race over the traditional distance of 42.195 km with an innovative formula: 3 different marathons and a single goal, to complete them all and enter the myth.
Each year, MYTHO Marathon takes place in a different location; the upcoming stages will be Grado (2024), Gorizia (2025), and Nova Gorica (2026). Each year, a different locality in Friuli-Venezia Giulia is honored, and each marathon allows one to discover the hosting city and its beauties.
After Friuli’s wonders, we return to Veneto to face new challenges, overcome them, and celebrate our personal victories with a glass of Prosecco DOC. We stay by the sea and head to Venice, a city that needs no introduction, where the Venice Marathon, a hub of events capable of involving people of all kinds and ages, takes place. The race follows a unique route in the world, where every kilometer is full of charm and wonder: from the start in front of Villa Pisani on the Brenta Riviera, with its villas, to Venice, crossing a bridge made of boats, Piazza San Marco, the Campanile, and the Doge’s Palace.
We end our journey and story in Padua, a university city with alleys and squares to visit by following the Padua Marathon route, perhaps through “Le Stracittadine”, non-competitive races that each year involve thousands of enthusiasts, tourists, families, and children who fill the historic center’s streets to spend a few hours outdoors.
See you on the next journey… or at the next milestone!
